Just as you think that Vince Young has turned his life around and is ready to accept a long-term role as the Tennessee Titans quarterback, something always happens.

Vince Young is awaiting a verdict from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell after receiving a misdemeanor assault citation at a Dallas strip club last weekend. Vince Young was caught on tape attacking the strip club owner after he showed Young an upside down Longhorns symbol.

Vince Young is hoping for Roger Goodell's mercy. According to Paul Kuharsky, Young stated "I pray to God that Roger Goodell doesn’t come down hard on me, because I definitely want to be here for my teammates."

Well, maybe Vince Young should have used his Sabbath Day for something other than causing chaos at a gentleman’s club. Vince Young has been ridiculed for issues concerning his mentality, including being searched by police after his mother was worried about his well-being from a poor performance to start the 2008 season. It took him a season and a half to recapture his starting position as the Titans quarterback, and finish the 2009 season 8-2; just missing the playoffs after a 0-6 start.

This strip club incident is something you would expect from Adam “Pacman” Jones. Having the Titans quarterback position firmly in his grasp, it should alarm Titan fans to see that Young still doesn’t get it. Putting you and your team in this position over something so childish? He has to witness more despicable things on the field from his opposition.

Steelers quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, received a 6 game suspension that can be cut down to 4 on good behavior for alleged accusations of rape and prior misconduct. Goodell has been known for coming down hard on players who misrepresent the NFL in conduct. Young, however, hasn’t been a repeat offender like Pacman Jones, who was suspended all of 2007 after numerous violations of the NFL conduct policy.

Vince Young should receive at minimum a two-game suspension for his shtick, but Roger Goodell may let this slide because it’s his first act of violence. Despite his statistical under-performances, Vince Young has proven that he can be an NFL winning quarterback. Unless he can put these mental boundaries aside that have plagued the early stages of his career, he won’t be anything more than a winning regular season quarterback.

Hopefully, that’s before Goodell lays down the law.
